Administrator honored with lifetime recognition award
Friday, April 26th | 2:20pm
A UW-Stout administrator has been honored by the Northern Plains Region of the National Association for Campus Activities.
Mary McManus, University Centers assistant director, received the Bud Goldstein Lifetime Member Award during the closing banquet of the NACA conference in St. Paul.
She was recognized for “over two decades of work in the field of campus activities and for her significant contributions to the regional association,” according to the NACA Northern Plains Region. “I am so very honored to be considered for this award,” McManus said, citing Goldstein, an entertainment agent who served the association for many years.
“It was 20 years ago this month that I took on my first volunteer role with NACA. Great colleagues, companions, business partners and friends are the primary outcome of the personal and professional investment in this organization. Even better, the opportunity to work with and in some cases mentor college students, graduate students and new professionals into this field is the generative icing on the cake of my NACA investment,” McManus added.
McManus has a long history of contributions to NACA, taking on numerous volunteer roles over the years and working on important issues. She served as conference coordinator 1994-96 and regional coordinator 1996-99. She also served on the national level as part of the regional coordinators’ council, aided with the sexual harassment policy review process and was part of the National Board of Directors interview team.
On the regional level McManus worked on outreach to two-year schools, engaged staff to consider leadership roles and worked to further recognize associate members in business and industry as full partners in the organization.
