Press Release

Blue Devil Productions will be screening A Scanner Darkly at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 7 p.m. in Applied Arts Room 210.

A Scanner Darkly is about Los Angeles in a not-too-distant future and its sufferings with a surge of drug abuse involving a new ultra-addictive and eventually brain-damaging substance simply named "D". Bob Arctor is an undercover narc leading a double life. He is dutifully reporting to his superiors while abandoning whatever normal existence he had before becoming a "D" addict himself. But this schizophrenic situation and the drug-induced memory and concentration lapses puts Bob under mounting stress as he soon loses his own identity as a result. "The brilliance of A Scanner Darkly is how it suggests, without bombast or fanfare, the ways in which the real world has come to resemble the dark world of comic books (Los Angeles Times)." A Scanner Darkly features actors such as Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder, and Rory Cochrane along with Richard Linklater directing.

This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of Wisconsin-Stout and is FREE to all. Please call (715) 232-2432 or go to bdp.uwstout.edu for more information.
