Press Release

Blue Devil Productions will be screening Into the Wild at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 7 p.m. in Applied Arts 210.

Into the Wild is based on a true story and the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer. It’s about a boy who decides to abandon all his possessions in a quest for something more out of life than obligations, expectations, and even conformity to society’s wishes. After graduating from Emory University as a top student and athlete, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch, from The Girl Next Door) leaves everything by giving his entire savings account to charity and hitchhiking to the Alaskan wilderness in hopes of living amongst all that nature has to offer. Sean Penn directs this touching adaptation with an outstanding cast including Emile Hirsh, William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden, Jena Malone, Vince Vaughn and several others. “McCandless is such a vivid and enigmatic character - a force of nature in himself - that his story grips you till the bitter end (Stella Papamichael, BBCi-Films).” This story’s adventures, turmoil, and intrigue will have you looking at the bigger picture and force you to think about more than just tomorrow.

This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of Wisconsin-Stout and is FREE to all. Please call (715) 232-2432 or go to bdp.uwstout.edu for more information and to view the film’s trailer. This film is rated R and has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
