6pm & 9pm | 210 Applied Arts

Blue Devil Productions is proud to present the film "The Rum Diaries" at the University of Wisconsin – Stout on Friday, Febuary 3rd, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in Applied Arts, room 210.

Tired of the noise and madness of New York, Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) travels to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to write for a local newspaper, run by downtrodden editor Lotterman (Richard Jenkins). Adopting the rum-soaked life of the island, Paul soon becomes obsessed with Chenault (Amber Heard), the wildly attractive Connecticut-born fiancée of Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart). Sanderson is one of a growing number of American entrepreneurs who are determined to convert Puerto Rico into a capitalist paradise in service of the wealthy. When Kemp is recruited by Sanderson to write favorably about his latest unsavory scheme, the journalist is presented with a choice: to use his words for the corrupt businessmen's financial benefit, or use them to take the bastards down.

This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of Wisconsin – Stout and is FREE to the public. This is part of the Blue Devil Productions film series. "The Rum Diary" is rated R for language, brief drug use and sexuality. For more information please call (715)-232-2432 or go to http://bdp.uwstout.edu.
