Thursday, Febuary 23rd
8pm | Terrace in the MSC
Blue Devil Productions is proud to present the artist The Heart Pills with opener Portage on Thursday, February 23rd in the Terrace at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
This is a night of local music you will not want to miss! The Heart Pills are from Eau Claire and consist of Josh, Matt, Silas, and Sarah. They describe themselves as campfire-tincan-folkpunk and have been gaining popularity since last spring. Their tin canny style is achieved by using a filing cabinet to create sound. Since no one in the band is hyper critical, it has allowed them to slowly let their sound evolve. The Heart Pills' music is reminiscent to Tom Waits, Black Crowes, and Slayer, which leaves a lot up to the imagination. This rag-tag band is taking the local music scene by storm and this will be a rare intimate performance – see them before they start selling out shows in Minneapolis!
Opening for The Heart Pills, is Portage from Minneapolis. Don't let their small facebook fan base fool you though, this band's sound is anything but small. They are considered the "Black Keys of the Midwest" and the statement is not far fetched. They have shared the stage with local acts Trampled By Turtles and Peter Wolf Crier. What started as an acoustic set has grown into a sound much noiser and more rooted in R&B than what they had imagined. Blue Devil Productions is looking forward to bringing UW-Stout a rare performance of up and coming local acts.
This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of Wisconsin-Stout and is FREE to all. This event is a part of Blue Devil Productions music series. Please call (715) 232-2432 or go to bdp.uwstout.edu for more information.
