A Chance At Stout Romance


October 14th - 19th

Get your suit and tie or your gown and prepare to dance the week away Stout style! Remember how important prom seemed in high school? Well, forget the limos, forget the corsage, and get ready for the weeklong Menom-Prom celebration! UW-Stout's Homecoming theme for 2013 is Menom-Prom – A Chance @ Stout Romance. This year's theme is all about having fun with friends and looking fancy!

Blue Devil Productions is excited to announce the schedule of this year's events. Homecoming week is Monday, October 14th – Saturday, October 19th. As usual, competitions will be held for the Homecoming King and Queen, as well as participating student organizations. Throughout the week, BDP will be sponsoring our annual student organization Penny Wars, with the proceeds going to a local charity. Other Menom-Prom events include a fashion show/competition called "Menom-Prom: All Dressed Up", comedians Beth Stelling and Eric O'Shea. Coronation will be held after the comedian Eric O'Shea. The week will end with the Homecoming football game against UW-LaCrosse. All of these events are FREE for everyone! Below is a complete list of the week's activities. I Could Have Danced All Night: Theme Parties, Mixers, and Club Dances at Stout

Please join us for speaker Heather Stecklein's presentation "I Could Have Danced All Night: Theme Parties, Mixers, and Club Dances at Stout"!

Heather Stecklein has served as Archivist at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Archives and Area Research Center since 2012. Before joining the staff at Stout, Heather preserved and promoted the historical collections at institutions including Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum in Alaska, and the Iowa Women's Archives.


Homecoming Kick Off Dance

Don't miss out on our Homecoming Kick-Off Dance to start off Homecoming week right! There will be refreshments, a DJ, a photo booth, and activities such as make your own tissue paper corsage, classic partner shoe question game (with candy for winners), and playing Ellen Degeneres' game Head's Up. See you there!


Medallion Hunt Begins

Look for clues in Campus Life Today emails!


CLUE #1:

The search for the medallion has returned, a prize from the bookstore is what will be earned. To start, the South is where you should go. Be sure to search both high and low!


CLUE #2:

Now that you've got a start, we'll tell you that it's in the heart. It's somewhere every student has been. Look fast so that you can win!


CLUE #3:

By now you've probably figured it out. You might know the building it's in without a doubt. Now it's just a matter of where, perhaps you should go up the stairs.


CLUE #4:

Now that you know where it might hide, head on over to the side. There isn't much time left to spare, so hopefully you will find it there.

Anyone interested in participating is invited to revamp an old prom look or create a new one; judges’ favorites will win prizes! Participants may enter alone or in pairs. People interested in participating can sign up at the Involvement Center desk by NOON on October 15th.


There will be prizes for the following awards:

"Closet Must-Have"

and "Date Worthy"


If you are competing please arrive at the Terrace at 6:30pm day of show.

Comedian Beth Stelling

8pm - The Great Hall/MSC

Beth started telling jokes seriously in Chicago where she was a cast member of Chicago Underground Comedy. She performed stand-up at the top comedy venues, studied improv at The Annoyance Theater, and tri-hosted a show called "Entertaining Julia." In 2010, The Chicago Reader named Stelling the "Best Stand-up Comedian" in Chicago and in 2013, and LA Weekly named her #2 on a list of "12 L.A. Comedy Acts to Watch in 2013." She also released her debut comedy album, Sweet Beth, on Rooftop Comedy's record label.

Comedian Eric O'Shea

8pm - The Great Hall/MSC

13 years after jumping into the college market, Eric is still doing it, loving it, and even won the "2007 National College Comedian of the Year" voted by over 5000 campuses nationwide. He has kept busy traveling during that span, averaging over 70+ schools every year, along with Corporate Shows, Festivals, and Theaters. He created his "Songs for Commercials" bit, which not only got over 4 Million hits on YouTube, but he was invited to perform his "Commercials" live at the 2009 Creative Emmy Awards! Eric continues working hard, appreciating his family, health, and is always trying to put a fun spin on things.
